Our history.
Heatstore has been bringing the warmth to Canterbury for more than two cosy decades. Founded by Wendy Mills and Trevor Hale – two heating experts with a passion for pellet fires – the business first began as a private pellet-fire company owned by a guy called Steve. While Wendy and Trevor were on the team, it was bought by Solid Energy, a state-owned enterprise focused on promoting clean-burning renewable heating across New Zealand. In 2008, with Wendy running the admin and Trevor nailing the installations, the pair decided to turn up the heat – buying the business back from Solid Energy and establishing Heatstore as an independent local entity.
As the years moved on, through seasons and cold-snaps and soft nights by the fire, Heatstore burned bright, growing into one of the region’s most trusted names in home heating. And in April 2026, as the chill of Autumn arrived in all its crisp, smoky glory, the business passed into the capable hands of Jo and Chris Macbeth – a new chapter, a fresh start. With years of experience behind them in companies big and small – and a shared love for fire and doing things right – Jo and Chris are proud to be bringing the warmth to the Hearths, Hearts and Homes of Canterbury for many years to come.
